Description

Journey North engages students in a global study of wildlife migration and seasonal change, offering a platform to share field observations with classmates across North America. This workshop will examine two Journey North projects that are feasible in all schoolyards: Monarch Watch and Tulip Gardens. For each project, participants will learn how to use the tools and engage students in the seasonal data collection. In addition, we will explore curricular connections from the Audubon CT Schoolyard Habitat Curriculum Guide that complement each project and dive deeper into using seasonal change data in all aspects of the curriculum. We will discuss how Citizen Science in the schoolyard creates a platform for long-term investigations that highlight environmental trends.
