Abstract

James V. Bennett served at the Director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons from 1937 - 1964. His letter to Mr. Springer expresses his personal appreciation in how he handled the riots at Oxford, Mississippi and also includes the transcript of President John F. Kennedy's statement.
